2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on Gentle Claw Clip Twists & Chignons for Fragile Ends. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
For fine, low-porosity hair, keep the twist loose and use a smaller claw clip to avoid slipping. Add a dab of aloe vera gel at the roots for grip without weight. If your hair is medium-porosity and wavy, a slightly tighter twist with a medium clip works beautifully—just ensure the ends are tucked under to prevent friction.
Curly and coily textures (3B–4C) benefit from a wider claw clip and a gentle twist that doesn’t disturb the curl pattern. Apply a silicone-free cream to define curls before clipping. For high-porosity hair, seal with a few drops of argan oil on the ends to prevent moisture loss and breakage.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
