3. Step-by-Step Botanical Wash & Styling Ritual
In Part 3 of our breakdown for Sage & Jojoba Pre-Wash Scalp Detox for Balanced Roots, let’s walk through the exact hands-on technique I teach my clients so their hair looks salon-fresh without heat damage.

Camille’s 10-Minute Clean Styling Protocol
Start by warming about a tablespoon of cold-pressed jojoba oil in a small glass bowl, then stir in a pinch of dried sage (or 2 drops of sage essential oil) and a single drop of tea tree if you need extra calming. Part your hair into sections and use your fingertips to work the oil directly onto your scalp, moving in slow, circular motions from the nape up to the crown. Let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes—long enough to soften buildup but not so long that the oil becomes heavy. I always tell my clients to use this time to breathe, maybe with a warm towel wrapped around their head to open the follicles.
Then, step into the shower and emulsify the oil with a little water before applying your usual sulfate-free shampoo. You’ll notice the lather is rich and creamy, lifting away the oil and any dead skin cells without that squeaky-tight feeling. Follow with a light conditioner on your lengths only, and finish with a cool rinse to seal the cuticle. For styling, I love a heatless approach: gently squeeze out excess water, apply a leave-in, and either air-dry or use a diffuser on low. Your roots will feel clean, light, and wonderfully balanced.
