2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on The Shared Shower Cut: A Couple's Botanical Haircare Ritual. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

📌 Pin Hair Guide
Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
For straight to wavy hair (around 1B–2B), I keep the cut blunt with light layers around the face to add movement without bulk. If one partner has curlier hair, I adjust the angle of the cut to follow the natural curl pattern, using a dry cut method so the shape falls perfectly when it dries.
For low porosity hair, I recommend warming the botanical rinse slightly—it helps open the cuticle for better absorption. For high porosity, use a cool final rinse and a touch more argan oil to seal moisture. This way, both partners can customize their shared shower experience to their hair’s needs.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
