2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on Soft Layered Bob for Curly Hair: A Parisian Botanical Cut. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

📌 Pin Hair Guide
Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
For low-porosity curls, which tend to repel moisture, I’d keep the layers a bit longer and recommend a lighter leave-in, like aloe vera gel diluted with water, to avoid weighing down the hair. For high-porosity curls, which drink up moisture but lose it fast, I’d add more internal layers to reduce bulk and suggest a richer argan oil treatment to seal the cuticle.
If your curls are looser (2B–2C), a blunt-ish bob with subtle layers at the ends gives a chic, Parisian vibe. For tighter coils (3C–4A), I’d go with a shorter, stacked bob and more aggressive layering to create volume at the crown. Always adapt the cut to the curl’s natural spring—never the other way around.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
