2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on The Soft Organic Bob: Brown Curls with Botanical Shine. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
For fine, wavy hair, I’ll keep the bob slightly longer, just grazing the collarbone, and add subtle layers to boost volume without weighing it down. I’d also recommend a lighter leave-in, like a rosemary hydrosol mist, to encourage lift at the roots.
If your hair is thick and coily, don’t be afraid to go shorter in the back—it removes bulk and lets those curls spring up. I’ll use a heavier butter, like shea mixed with jojoba, to define each coil and lock in moisture. The key is balancing porosity: low porosity needs lighter botanicals, while high porosity craves richer oils.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
