2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on The Parisian Bob: A Soft, Curly-Friendly Cut for 2023. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

📌 Pin Hair Guide
Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
For fine, wavy hair (2A–2B), I keep the bob slightly longer—just grazing the collarbone—and add soft, invisible layers to create movement without thinning the ends. If your hair is low porosity, avoid heavy butters; instead, use a lightweight argan oil mist after styling to seal in moisture without weighing down the wave.
For tighter curls (3C–4A), I cut each curl individually, shaping the bob to fall just below the chin when dry. This prevents shrinkage from making it look too short. High-porosity hair needs a protein-rich leave-in to strengthen the curls, so I often recommend a quinoa-based conditioner in the salon. The key is always the same: cut dry, style with intention, and let your hair’s natural pattern lead the way.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
