2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on The Parisian Curly Bob: A Soft, Lived-In Cut for 2023. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
If your hair is on the finer side with loose waves (2A–2B), I’d keep the bob a bit longer—just grazing the collarbone—and add soft, invisible layers to create movement without losing density. For tighter curls or coils (3C–4A), a shorter, stacked bob works wonders, giving volume at the crown and letting your natural texture shine. The key is adjusting the angle: more elevation for tighter curls, less for wavier hair.
Porosity matters too. Low-porosity hair tends to weigh down, so I’d avoid heavy butters and opt for a lightweight mousse or a spritz of rosemary hydrosol. High-porosity curls love a bit of argan oil to seal in moisture and tame frizz. Always tell your stylist your curl pattern and porosity—it changes everything.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
