2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on High-Porosity Hair Rescue: Babassu & Oat Lipid Deep Mask Ritual. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
For fine high-porosity waves (2A–2C), reduce the babassu by half and add an extra teaspoon of aloe vera gel to keep the mask light. You’ll get the repair without weighing down your roots. For thick, coily hair (4A–4C), double the babassu butter and let the mask sit for a full 30 minutes under a warm towel—the heat helps the lipids sink deeper into each strand.
If your hair is color-treated or heat-stressed, swap the aloe for a tablespoon of rooibos tea, which adds a natural antioxidant boost. And for those with a sensitive scalp, skip the essential oils entirely—the oat lipids are naturally soothing, so you won’t need them.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
