2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on The Mod Bob: A Chic, Hijab-Friendly Cut for Soft Movement. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

📌 Pin Hair Guide
Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
If your hair is on the finer side, I’d recommend a one-length bob with a subtle underlayer, cut just at the jawline. This creates the illusion of density and keeps the shape clean, which is perfect for hijab styling. For thicker, wavier hair, I’d add more internal layers to remove bulk and encourage natural bends—this prevents the dreaded ‘triangle head’ effect when you tuck it under a cap.
For curly or coily textures, I adjust the bob to sit slightly longer, around the collarbone, and cut it dry to honor your natural curl pattern. This way, the curls bounce freely without being weighed down, and the hijab won’t flatten them completely. Always ask your stylist to show you how the cut looks both down and pulled back—that’s the real test for a versatile, hijab-friendly style.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
