2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on The Botanical Bob: A Seasonless Cut for Every Porosity. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
For low-porosity hair, which tends to resist moisture and sit flat, I recommend a bob with more internal layers and a slightly rounded shape. This removes bulk and encourages natural volume without weighing the hair down. Avoid heavy styling products; instead, use a light botanical mist and let the cut do the work.
If you have wavy or curly hair, ask for a longer bob (lob) with a subtle A-line—shorter in the back, longer in the front. This prevents the dreaded triangle effect and lets your curls bounce freely. For high-porosity hair, keep the bob more uniform and avoid excessive thinning, which can lead to frizz. A weekly protein treatment will keep the ends strong and the shape crisp.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
