2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on The Effortless French Bob: A Botanical Cut for Every Season. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
For fine, straight hair, I keep the bob slightly longer, just grazing the jaw, and add subtle texturizing at the ends to create the illusion of density. If you have wavy or curly hair, I’ll cut it dry, so I can see how each curl falls—this prevents any harsh lines and lets the natural bounce shine through.
For low-porosity hair, I recommend a lighter leave-in, like a jojoba-based serum, to avoid weighing down the cut. For high-porosity hair, a heavier cream helps seal the cuticle and define the shape. The beauty of the French bob is its adaptability—it’s a canvas for your hair’s unique personality.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
