4. Long-Term Scalp Care, Glossing & Maintenance
Welcome to Part 4 of 4 of my guide on Protective Ponytails & Crown Braids for Healthier Ends. Keeping your cuticle glossy and your ends split-free between trims comes down to a few simple weekly habits.

Preserving Your Cuticle & Natural Shine
Long-term, I always remind my clients to give their scalp a break—wear protective styles for a few days, then let your hair down at night. Sleep on a silk pillowcase to reduce friction, and re-wrap your ribbon each morning to keep the style fresh. A weekly scalp massage with a few drops of rosemary oil stimulates circulation and keeps the follicle healthy.
Every six weeks, come in for a micro-trim to keep those ends sealed. And if you notice any soreness or tightness at the hairline, loosen the style immediately. Protective styling is about giving your hair a vacation, not a workout. With the right technique and botanical care, your ends will thank you.
