2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on Rosemary & Clove Botanical Rinse for Faster, Thicker Hair. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

📌 Pin Hair Guide
Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
For low-porosity hair, where the cuticle lies flat and resists moisture, I suggest adding a drop of jojoba oil to the rinse—it helps the botanical water penetrate without weighing strands down. If your hair is high-porosity, swap the green tea base for chamomile tea to calm the cuticle and reduce frizz, keeping the same rosemary and clove ratio.
For straight, fine hair, use the rinse as a final splash after conditioner and skip heavy oils. For coily or kinky textures, double the massage time and follow with a light leave-in to seal in the benefits. The key is to listen to your hair’s thirst, not just follow a rigid recipe.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
