2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on The Soft Bob: A Wash-Day Ritual for Naturally Radiant Hair. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

📌 Pin Hair Guide
Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
If you have fine, straight hair like Marie, keep the bob one-length or with a slight undercut to add density. Use a light mousse at the roots and air-dry with your fingers, pulling gently downward to encourage that sleek, French-girl finish. For wavy or curly hair, ask your stylist for a layered bob with a longer top—this lets curls spring up without turning into a triangle.
For low-porosity hair, which resists moisture, I add a drop of argan oil to your leave-in conditioner and suggest a pre-shower warm oil treatment once a week. High-porosity hair, on the other hand, benefits from a protein-free rinse and a cool final splash to close the cuticle. The key is to listen to your hair’s porosity, not just its length.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
