2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on The Airy Botanical French Bob: Cheekbone Framing & Sea-Salt Mist Styling. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

📌 Pin Hair Guide
Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
For straight, fine hair (1B–1C), I keep the bob slightly longer at the front and add more internal layers to create movement without sacrificing density. The sea-salt mist should be applied sparingly—just a few spritzes from mid-length to ends—to avoid any crunchy residue. A drop of argan oil rubbed between palms and pressed over the surface will seal the cuticle and keep the airy feel soft, not sticky.
If your hair is wavy or curly (2A–2C), I adjust the cut to follow the natural curl pattern, cutting each section on a slight diagonal so the bob frames the face when dry. For wavy hair, I boost the sea-salt mist with a bit of aloe vera gel to enhance definition, and I always recommend diffusing on low heat for a few minutes to set the wave without frizz. The goal is a bob that looks like it was styled by the wind, not by a tool.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
