2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on The Soft Bob for Hijabi Style: A Chic, Face-Framing Cut. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

📌 Pin Hair Guide
Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
For clients with fine, straight hair, I keep the bob slightly longer—just grazing the collarbone—and add wispy, face-framing pieces to create the illusion of volume. A light mousse at the roots, applied before air-drying, gives lift that lasts all day under a hijab. If your hair is wavy or has a bit of natural texture, I’ll cut the bob with more deliberate layering to enhance the wave pattern, so it falls into soft, effortless curves.
For curly or coily hair, I recommend a longer, graduated bob that respects the natural shrinkage—this prevents the ‘triangle’ effect and keeps the shape flattering. I always cut curly hair dry, curl by curl, and use a botanical curl cream to define the pattern. The beauty of this cut is its versatility: it can be sleek and polished for formal occasions, or tousled and relaxed for everyday wear, all while maintaining a graceful silhouette under any head covering.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
