2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on The Kiss-Curl Bob: A Soft, Face-Framing Cut for Romantic Movement. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
For clients with fine, straight hair, I keep the bob slightly longer—just past the chin—and add subtle layers at the crown to encourage natural lift. If your hair is wavy or has a bit of body, I’ll cut a bit shorter and use a point-cutting technique to soften the edges, letting the waves create their own romantic disarray.
If you have curly or coily hair, I adapt the kiss-curl into a curl-friendly bob, cutting each curl individually while dry. This way, the shape respects your natural texture, and the inward curve becomes a gentle cascade rather than a rigid line. The key is to honor your porosity—low porosity needs lighter botanicals, while high porosity craves richer oils to seal the cuticle.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
