4. Long-Term Scalp Care, Glossing & Maintenance
Welcome to Part 4 of 4 of my guide on The Botanical Bob: My Soft-Layered Cut for Curly Hair. Keeping your cuticle glossy and your ends split-free between trims comes down to a few simple weekly habits.

Preserving Your Cuticle & Natural Shine
Long-term, the scalp is your hair’s foundation. I recommend a weekly scalp massage with a few drops of rosemary hydrosol to stimulate circulation and balance the microbiome. At night, wrap your bob in a silk scarf or use a silk pillowcase—this reduces friction, preserves your curl pattern, and keeps the cut looking fresh longer.
For maintenance, I suggest a micro-trim every six weeks, just a quarter-inch to keep the ends healthy. In the salon, I finish with an herbal gloss—a mix of chamomile and rosewater—that adds mirror-like shine without synthetic silicones. This ritual keeps your bob vibrant and your curls happy between visits.
