4. Long-Term Scalp Care, Glossing & Maintenance
Welcome to Part 4 of 4 of my guide on Soft Layered Bob for Hijabi Style: A Botanical Haircut Guide. Keeping your cuticle glossy and your ends split-free between trims comes down to a few simple weekly habits.

Preserving Your Cuticle & Natural Shine
Long-term, your scalp’s microbiome thrives on consistency. I always advise my hijabi clients to give their hair a break at night—loosen the hijab and let your hair down in a loose braid or pineapple. Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction and prevent breakage, and consider a weekly herbal rinse with chamomile or lavender to soothe the scalp and add a natural gloss.
Every six weeks, come in for a micro-trim to keep those layers fresh and the bob’s shape crisp. Between visits, I like to use a homemade rice-water rinse once a month to strengthen the hair shaft. And remember, a bob is forgiving—even if you miss a trim, it grows out gracefully without looking awkward. That’s the beauty of this cut: it’s designed to evolve with you, just like your daily routines.
