2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on The Modern Modest Bob: A Chic, Low-Maintenance Cut for Every Occasion. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
For straight hair (1B–1C), a blunt bob with a micro-trimmed edge creates a sleek, Parisian look. If you have waves (2A–2B), I’d recommend a slightly longer, layered bob that lets your natural texture breathe. The key is adjusting the angle: steeper for straight, softer for wavy.
For low-porosity hair, which tends to resist moisture, I add a lightweight rose water mist before styling—it helps the cut hold its shape without heaviness. High-porosity hair benefits from a bit of argan oil on the ends to seal and prevent frizz. Always tell your stylist about your hair’s behavior on humid days; it changes everything.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
