4. Long-Term Scalp Care, Glossing & Maintenance
Welcome to Part 4 of 4 of my guide on 2023 Botanical Hair Color Rituals for Soft, Glossy Movement. Keeping your cuticle glossy and your ends split-free between trims comes down to a few simple weekly habits.

Preserving Your Cuticle & Natural Shine
Your scalp microbiome thrives on consistency, not harsh resets. I tell my clients to wash every 2–3 days with a gentle herbal shampoo, and to do a scalp massage with rosemary and jojoba oil once a week—just ten minutes before your shower—to stimulate circulation and balance sebum. At night, wrap your hair in a silk scarf or sleep on a silk pillowcase to prevent friction and keep the gloss intact.
Every six weeks, book a micro-trim with your stylist to remove any split ends and refresh your layers, but skip the gloss treatment that day—your hair needs a break from product buildup. If you’re between salon visits, mix a teaspoon of honey with your regular conditioner for a quick at-home gloss that adds softness and light reflection. This is my promise: with botanical care, your hair will look better with each passing season, not worse.
