Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands

For low-porosity hair like Sophie’s, squalane is a dream because it’s lightweight and won’t sit on top of the strand. If your hair is high-porosity or damaged, I’d suggest mixing a few drops of squalane with a leave-in conditioner to help seal moisture and reduce frizz. For curly or coily textures, apply squalane to damp hair before styling to define curls and add shine without weighing them down.

If you have fine hair, use just one drop—rub it between your palms and smooth over the mid-lengths and ends, avoiding the roots. For thicker hair, you can be more generous, but always start small and add more if needed. The key is to balance the oil so your hair looks glossy, not greasy.

🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide

  • Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
  • Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
  • High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
