2. Tailoring to Your Hair Porosity & Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my guide on Soft Curtain Bangs & Collarbone Lob: Tailoring the Angles for Your Face Shape. Every head of hair absorbs moisture and holds movement differently—here is how I customize the formula and cut proportions in my studio.

📌 Pin Hair Guide
Matching Botanicals & Layers to Your Strands
For those with fine, straight hair like Marie’s, I recommend a lob that hits just at the collarbone, with long layers that start at the chin. This adds movement and volume without weighing the hair down. The curtain bangs should be cut to just below the cheekbones, with a slight point-cut to keep them airy. I always finish with a spritz of rose hydrosol to give that natural, lived-in texture.
If you have wavy or curly hair, the lob can be a game-changer. I’ll cut it a bit shorter, around the shoulders, so the curls don’t bounce up too much. The curtain bangs should be cut dry, in their natural curl pattern, and I’ll use a diffuser to enhance the wave. For thicker, coarser hair, I’ll add more internal layers to remove bulk and let the hair move freely. And for those with a long face, I’ll keep the lob fuller at the ends to add width, with the bangs sweeping across the forehead to shorten the appearance of the face.
🌿 Quick Porosity Match Guide
- Low Porosity & Fine Strands: Choose clarified herbal hydrosols (rosemary, nettle, peppermint) and airy internal layers.
- Medium Porosity & Wavy Textures: Balance lightweight aloe hydration with cold-pressed jojoba and point-cut movement.
- High Porosity & Curly Strands: Seal moisture with oat lipids, babassu butter, and flaxseed curl definition.
