3. Step-by-Step Botanical Wash & Styling Ritual
In Part 3 of our breakdown for Weightless Butterfly Layers for Thick Wavy Hair: Air-Dry Salon Cut, let’s walk through the exact hands-on technique I teach my clients so their hair looks salon-fresh without heat damage.

Camille’s 10-Minute Clean Styling Protocol
Start by washing with a sulfate-free shampoo, focusing on the scalp, then condition mid-lengths to ends. Rinse with cool water to close the cuticle and boost shine. Gently squeeze out excess water, then apply a pea-sized amount of aloe vera gel mixed with a few spritzes of chamomile hydrosol—this is my go-to leave-in for weightless definition. Comb through with a wide-tooth comb to distribute evenly, then plop in a microfiber towel for 10 minutes to remove excess moisture without roughing up the cuticle.
After plopping, let your hair air-dry completely—no touching! If you’re in a hurry, use a diffuser on low heat and low speed, scrunching gently upward. Once dry, flip your head upside down and shake your roots to add volume. Finish with a single drop of argan oil warmed between your palms, then smooth over the mid-lengths and ends to tame flyaways and add a soft, glossy sheen. This routine keeps the butterfly layers airy and bouncy, never stiff or sticky.
